I have learned over the years that keeping a spare camcorder battery can really make things a lot easier, especially when I am at family events or on vacation! There are only so many hours of juice that you can squeeze out of even the best quality camcorder battery, which means that if you are like me – and you can’t keep your fingers off the record button on your DV camcorder – before you know it, your camcorder battery can be running out of life. Take the last baby shower that I was at for my brother, David’s, new daughter. I was shooting so much footage that I had forgotten that I didn’t charge my camcorder battery before leaving the house to head over there. Thankfully, and lucky for me, I had a spare camcorder battery with me at the time. Once the battery died, I simply swapped it out for a fully charged one and was able to really get some awesome shots of the event—which I later emailed and shared with the rest of my family!
