camcorder battery, slr camera One of my buddies was lucky enough to head to downtown LA on Saturday to watch the 2009 Red Bull Soap Box race. It turns out someone in his apartment complex was working on the event and got him great seats to all the action. I was really jealous because while he was snapping shots with an SLR camera I was slaving away for a paycheck. The video attached below does give a great taste of all the exciting action. This little reporter got inside access too. It is unbelievable to me how much work went into these soapboxes. They are a far cry from what kids made for Boy Scouts.

 

I haven’t seen the SLR camera pics yet but my friend said the jumps and big 90 degree sloping turn had contestants crashing all over the place. The Space Balls cart was my favorite in the vid. The one bad thing that happened was his camcorder battery died halfway through so he only caught the start of the day’s action. I told him to get online and find a bigger battery because they are so cheap. I missed X-Games action this year after my camcorder battery died minutes in. Went online for upgraded one right after. Next year, we’ll be charged up and ready for all the action.
